eSIM compatible devices

Two things have to be true: your device has eSIM hardware, and it is not locked to a carrier.

The list below covers the device families we see most often. It is a guide, not a certification — the checks underneath it are the answer that actually counts.

Manufacturers add eSIM support to new models constantly, and the same model can ship with different hardware in different markets. A device family listed here is not a promise about your particular unit, and a family missing from here is not a verdict either.

Do at least the first one. It answers the hardware question outright.

Dial *#06#
Open the dialler and enter *#06#. If the screen lists an EID — a long number, usually 32 digits — your device has eSIM hardware.
iPhone and iPad
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings → General → About and scroll to the bottom. An EID entry means eSIM hardware is present. Wi-Fi-only iPads show no EID and no IMEI.
Android
On Android, open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs and look for “Download a SIM instead”. On Samsung, look under Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM.
Ask your carrier
Ask whoever sold you the device whether it is carrier-locked. They are the only ones who can tell you for certain, and the only ones who can unlock it.

Carrier-locked devices will not work

A device locked to a home carrier restricts which networks it will register on. It may download our profile and still refuse to connect. Most carriers will unlock a device once the contract is paid — arrange it before you travel, not after.

What will not work

Wi-Fi-only tablets and laptops. No modem means no mobile data, eSIM or otherwise.
Smartwatches. Watch eSIMs pair with a specific mobile operator account, and our data-only profiles cannot be installed on them.
Carrier-locked devices, including phones still being paid off on a contract or instalment plan.
Devices with a physical SIM slot but no eSIM hardware — including most phones released before 2018 and many regional variants since.
